windows on blue - knit felt bag

This bag was made using yarns in various tints and shades of blue and mauve. The colours are mixed by combining different yarns, a bit like mixing paints really, to achieve the various shades and changes of colour.



Most of these yarns came from a local charity (thrift) shop.



The bag was knitted by hand and then felted in the washing machine - theres a post on how to do this here, which also has a link to the website where I got the pattern which I adapted for this bag.



This is a kind of quirky little bag, the intarsia knitting method has given the felt a lattice-sort of texture and 3-dimensionality - a bit of a life of its own.



There is one little pocket on the outside - knitted and felted as part of the bag


and suitable for a mobile phone, or tickets or... other little things...

The bag is finished by hand and lined with vintage fabric - turquoise seersucker with black linen facing and edging - with 2 internal pockets in a batik seersucker fabric.

The measurements are: about 10 inches/25.5cm across, measured flat, and 10.5 inches/27cm from the top edge to the base. The base is 4 inches/10.5cm by 9.5inches/24cm.

The handles are 27.5inches / 70 cm long, and have a black linen grip for extra comfort.

Heathery felted bag - SOLD

This bag was made using yarns in various heathery shades of brown - gingery and chocolatey browns and pale coffee - greens and teal, purple and wine. The colours are mixed by combining different yarns, a bit like mixing paints really.

There are 2 little pockets on the outside, one on each end - knitted and felted as part of the bag

and suitable for a mobile phone, or tickets or... other little things...



The bag is finished by hand and lined with vintage fabric - a lovely tie-dyed piece of cotton which shades from pale to darker purple - and there is are 2 internal pockets in the lining.

The measurements are: about 13.5inches/34cm across, measured flat, and 11.5 inches/29cm from the top edge to the base. The base is 4 inches/10.5cm by11.5 inches/29cm.

terracotta flowers bag SOLD

This is a bag to brighten up a dull day!



It was knitted using multiple threads of yarn combined together to mix different shades of peach and orange, gold and brown - and is decorated with little terracotta hand-crocheted flower medallions found at a car boot fair.





The bag was knitted by hand and then felted in the washing machine - theres a post on how to do this here.



There is a little pocket on the front, knitted and felted as part of the bag, and suitable for a mobile phone, or tickets or... other little things... and decorated with a flower.




The bag is lined with vintage Laura Ashley fabric, terracotta and green/mustard colours, and there are 2 internal pockets in the lining - one which fastens with a little vintage button,


and one which is divided into 2 handy smaller pockets.



The bag is finished and shuts with a tab and vintage button.



The measurements are: about 18.5inches/47cm across and 10+inches/26cm from the top edge to the base.

The handles are 31 inches /79 cm long.



Felting is a very ancient textile technique - though far easier and quicker in a washing machine than by hand! - and its very tough. This bag should last and last and cope with wear and tear, and its washable by hand, or in a gentle, cool machine wash.

Vertical stripe bag - hand knit and felted SOLD

This bag was knitted using multiple threads of yarn combined together to mix different shades of blues and purples using up odds and ends, left-overs and thrifted yarns, and it was knitted sideways to achieve the vertical stripes.

After being knitted by hand the bag was then felted in the washing machine - theres a post on how to do this here, which also has a link to the website where I got the pattern for this bag.

There are 2 little pockets on the outside, one on each side - knitted and felted as part of the bag, and suitable for a mobile phone, or tickets or... other little things...





The bag is lined with a vintage silky floral fabric - it might be silk, it has that texture and slightly crunchy feel, but its hard to be sure and it could be rayon. There are 2 smallish internal pockets in the lining.



The bag is finished and closes with a tab and vintage button.






The measurements are: about 11.5inches/29.5cm across and 14 inches/37cm from the top edge to the base.
The handles are 25.5 inches / 65cm long.
