Waffle bags!

Just going up for sale in the made4aid Etsy shop today, a series of waffle shoulder bags - these were all hand-woven on a table top loom, then semi-felted.  All lined with vintage fabric - full details on the Etsy listings so do go have a look!

These 3 are all made to the same design - all with a cream/ecru basis, and with colour in the weft - purple;  pale lilac and purple;  pink and brown.  The body of the bag is plain weave, and the band of waffle weaving along the top shrinks more than the plain weave, pulling in the bag and giving it its softly pleating shape.

The straps were knitted as icord, then felted.

You can see the item listings here.

There is also a 4th waffle bag, made on the same warp, which is all-over white waffle, making a square bag.

Made4aid sales are ticking over intermittently on Etsy, I have more items to list but not enough time to get it all done!   - and also I'm selling at the Greenwich Community College where I go to a textiles class - they now have a shop for students' work, and I have been selling some weaving and photography cards there.

Total money donated via made4aid has now tipped just over £3000. And in June, we will be participating in a craft fair in South East London - so, busy busy weaving and sewing for that.
